1. What business units does DB Group operate?

Deutsche Bahn AG (DB AG) operates the DB Netze Track, DB Netze Energy and DB Netze Stations business units directly. The other six business units (DB Bahn Long-Distance, DB Bahn Regional, DB Arriva, DB Schenker Rail, DB Schenker Logistics, DB Services) are operated by the wholly owned subsidiary DB Mobility Logistics AG (DB ML AG).

5. Who currently holds stakes in DB AG?

DB AG is wholly owned by the Federal Republic of Germany.

7. When does DB AG plan to take its subsidiary DB ML AG public?

DB AG originally planned to take its subsidiary DB ML AG public in October 2008. However, in view of the extreme uncertainties in the financial markets resulting from the financial crisis, and the need to set an issue price appropriate to the value of the company, Deutsche Bahn AG and its owner, the German government, decided to postpone taking DB Mobility Logistics AG public. A new target date has not yet been set.

8. Which accounting principles does DB Group use to prepare its financial statements?

Since the 2004 financial year the financial statements of Deutsche Bahn Group (DB Group) have been prepared in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as used in the European Union and augmented by the customary regulations contained in § 315a art. 1 of the German Commercial Code (HGB).

9. What revenues and EBIT did DB Group generate in 2012 financial year?

DB Group generated adjusted revenues of € 39.3 billion in 2012 financial year and adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) of € 2.7 billion.

10. How do DB Group's revenues break down by region in 2012 financial year?

Of the € 39.3 billion in Group revenues for 2012, 57.9 % (€ 22.7 bn) was generated in Germany. The remainder breaks down as follows: the Region Europe (excluding Germany) 29.8 % (€ 11.7 bn), the region Asia/Pacific 7.0 % (€ 2.8 bn) and the region North America 3.9 % (€ 1.5 bn); the region rest of the world 1.4 % (€ 0.6 bn).

11. How many employees does DB Group have?

At the end of 2012 financial year DB Group had 287,508 employees (299,347 natural persons). Of these 64.8 % were employed in Germany, and 35.2 % abroad.
